Terms of Use

1. About this website

This website (rajwa.org.au) is operated by the Royal Association of Justices of Western Australia (Inc.), ABN 22 863 914 075 ("RAJWA", "we", "us", "our"). RAJWA is a not-for-profit association incorporated in Western Australia under the Associations Incorporation Act 2015 (WA). Our primary object is to support Justices of the Peace to professionally undertake their role under the Justice of the Peace Act 2004 (WA), for the benefit of the State and public of Western Australia.

By using this website, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

2. The public area

Most of this website is open to the public: information about RAJWA, the JP role, how to become a JP, how to join RAJWA, our governance summary, and links to WA Government JP services. You don't need an account to use these pages.

3. The members area

Some content, including journals and newsletters, the Honour Roll, the JP Commission database, member resources, and the full Constitution, is only available to logged-in RAJWA members.

  • Access is provided to current, financial RAJWA members who are Justices of the Peace, once the Council has approved your membership application.
  • Your login is personal to you. Please keep it confidential and don't share it with anyone else, including other members. Let us know straight away if you think someone else has accessed your account.
  • Membership itself, including suspension, expulsion, and how disputes are resolved, is governed by RAJWA's Rules of Association, not by these Terms. If your membership is suspended or ends, your access to the members area ends with it.

4. Using this site responsibly

When using this website, please don't:

  • send harassing, abusive, or threatening messages to RAJWA staff, Council members, or other members through the site or any linked community channel;
  • scrape, bulk-download, or copy the Honour Roll, the JP Commission database, or the member directory, or use information from them for any purpose unconnected with RAJWA's affairs;
  • reproduce, republish, or redistribute journals, newsletters, or other members-only content without RAJWA's written permission. These publications are restricted to members to protect them from misuse and misquotation;
  • publish or share statements about RAJWA's internal business, Council decisions, or member disputes without authorisation;
  • try to access another member's account or any part of the site you're not authorised to use;
  • use the statistics form, merchandise order form, or membership application for anything other than their stated purpose.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the members area if you breach these Terms, in addition to any action the Council takes under the Rules of Association.

5. Content and ownership

The RAJWA name and logo, the journal and newsletter archive, the Honour Roll and JP Commission database compilations, and other original material on this site belong to RAJWA or are used with permission, and are protected by copyright. Members may view and use this content personally as part of their membership; it isn't for commercial use or public redistribution.

Links to WA Government services (for example, Find a JP, the signing centre map, and the Government Gazette) point to content owned by the relevant government agency. We provide these links for convenience only.

6. Accuracy of information

We maintain this site in good faith, but some information, particularly historical JP Commission dates and years-of-service figures on the Honour Roll, is drawn from records maintained over many years and may occasionally be incomplete or contain errors. If you notice something that looks wrong, please let us know so we can correct it.

General information about the JP role on this site is provided for guidance only and isn't legal advice. For authoritative guidance, refer to the Department of Justice JP Handbook or contact the Department directly.

7. Availability and liability

We try to keep this site available and working properly, but we don't guarantee it will always be accessible or error-free. To the extent the law allows, RAJWA excludes liability for any loss arising from your use of this site or reliance on its content, except for any liability that can't be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

8. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time by posting a new version on this page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the law of Western Australia, Australia.

10. Contact us

Questions about these Terms can be sent to the Registrar at rajwa@rajwa.org.au.
